Live Scan & notary, close to home.

Santa Paula is a quick, pretty drive from 805 Live Scan: CA-118 south through the groves around Somis, then Las Posas Road into Camarillo — about 25 minutes from downtown or the Harvard Boulevard corridor, and closer to twenty from the new neighborhoods at Harvest at Limoneira. You will find free parking at the building and a private room where your prints are captured one client at a time, with no line and no rush.

Schools, the hospital, and the county

The Santa Paula Unified School District and Santa Paula Hospital — part of Ventura County Medical Center — are the two largest sources of Live Scan requests in the Santa Clara River Valley. Teachers, aides, substitutes, coaches, and volunteers arrive with the district’s BCIA 8016; nurses, CNAs, and allied health staff bring forms from their licensing boards and county HR. We verify the ORI code on every form before capturing prints, transmit to the DOJ before you leave, and give you an ATI number to track results, which typically arrive within 48 to 72 hours.

Agriculture, aviation, and small business

Santa Paula’s agricultural employers, the businesses around Santa Paula Airport, and the city’s many family-owned shops send us supervisors, drivers, and staff clearing state licenses, along with security guard applicants for BSIS, new real estate agents, and contractors. Whatever the agency, the rolling fee is a flat $40; the DOJ and FBI processing fees are set by the government and printed on the fee schedule linked on this page.

Caregivers and families

IHSS caregivers in Santa Paula must clear a DOJ check before they can be enrolled and paid, and foster, adoptive, and kinship families completing Resource Family Approval need every adult in the household fingerprinted. We take the time to explain each step so the process is not intimidating.

Notary and mobile service

Diane is a commissioned California notary offering mobile appointments in Santa Paula — escrow and loan signings, powers of attorney, trusts, and healthcare directives — with a modest travel fee based on distance. For schools, churches, and employers, our mobile Live Scan service can come to Santa Paula for groups of five or more.

Santa Paula questions

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get to 805 Live Scan from Santa Paula?

Take CA-118 south through Somis, turn onto Las Posas Road into Camarillo, and we are at 1601 Carmen Dr., Suite 203B, just off US-101 — about 25 minutes. Free parking at the building.

Do I need an appointment?

No. Walk-ins are welcome Tuesday through Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. After-hours visits are by appointment — call or text (805) 377-3595 or reserve a time online.

What should I bring to a Live Scan appointment?

A valid state or government-issued photo ID and your BCIA 8016 form — the Request for Live Scan Service — from your requesting agency. We attend to everything else.

How quickly will results come back?

Most DOJ responses process within 48–72 hours; FBI-level checks can take slightly longer. Results are transmitted directly to your requesting agency, and you'll leave with an ATI number to track your submission.

Do you accept walk-ins?

Yes — Tuesday through Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Same-day reservations are often available. After hours services can be arranged by appointment.

What does Live Scan cost?

Our rolling fee is competitively priced at $40. DOJ and FBI processing fees are fixed by the government — they vary by your requesting agency and are not negotiable. Everything is collected together at your visit.

How may I pay?

Zelle, Venmo, credit and debit cards, personal and business checks, and cash. All fees are collected at your visit.

Will the notary travel to me?

With pleasure — homes, offices, hospitals, and escrow signings throughout Ventura County, with a modest travel fee by distance.

What is an ORI number?

The ORI number tells the DOJ where to send results and determines applicable fees. It must be correct on your form before fingerprinting.

What happens if my prints are rejected?

You will usually receive a formal rejection or deficiency notice explaining the reason for the rejection, along with instructions on how to fix it. The government fees are waived for eligible resubmissions. If you return to 805 Live Scan, the rolling fee is also waived.

Why can’t I use one Live Scan for another purpose?

Live Scan fingerprint results are tied to a specific requesting agency and purpose. They cannot be reused or shared for a different agency or purpose.

Can I get a copy of my results from 805 Live Scan?

No. Results are sent directly to the requesting agency — we do not receive or store background check results. You can use the ATI (Applicant Transaction Identifier) number given to you to track your results on the DOJ website, and you can request a copy from your agency.

Can I request a criminal history record for myself?

Yes. To receive a copy of your own criminal history record, you must submit fingerprint images, pay a $25 processing fee to the DOJ and a $40 rolling fee to 805 Live Scan. All California applicants can use the Live Scan Form (BCIA 8016RR) and follow these steps:

  1. Check “Record Review” as the “Type of Application.”
  2. Enter “Record Review” on the “Reason for Application” line.
  3. Fill out all your personal information.
  4. Bring the completed form to 805 Live Scan for fingerprinting.

You may be eligible to apply for a fee waiver to cover the DOJ processing fees.
